Job Title: Mechanical Test Lab (MTL) Technician
Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Quality Laboratory Supervisor
The Mechanical Test Lab (MTL) Technician is responsible for inspecting finished products, performing quality control testing, and preparing samples for shipment. This role ensures compliance with company quality standards, safety policies, and testing specifications.
Full-time, 2nd Shift
Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
Schedule may vary based on business needs
Operate and understand laboratory test equipment
Perform mechanical testing according to established specifications and standards
Maintain accurate, clear, and organized test records
Prepare and process samples for shipment to customers
Operate cutting machines and high-temperature equipment (training provided)
Assist with lay-up, curing, cutting, and testing processes
Maintain a clean and organized work environment in accordance with company standards
Follow all health and safety policies and safe work practices
Ensure compliance with all Quality System requirements
Coordinate testing schedules with supervisors and communicate resource needs
Collaborate with lab team members and support departmental goals
Adhere to all established lab rules and procedures
Required:
High school diploma or GED (or equivalent)
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, etc.)
Ability to learn and operate testing equipment
Preferred:
1–3 years of experience in a laboratory or quality environment
Manufacturing and/or composites experience
Technical aptitude
Ability to operate mechanical testing equipment
Strong judgment and attention to detail
Laboratory setting with some exposure to chemicals and production areas
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs
Ability to wear a NIOSH-approved respirator
