Composite Lab Technician

We are seeking a detail-oriented Composite Lab Technician to support composite materials processing, testing, and product-development activities. This full-time role works closely with the Technical/R&D team to process and characterize composite materials, maintain accurate test records, and support quality, safety, and laboratory standards.

The ideal candidate has hands-on laboratory, manufacturing, production-shop, or composites experience; strong attention to detail; and the ability to work safely with lab and processing equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform composite materials processing activities, including layup, kitting, bagging, curing, and machining.

• Safely operate laboratory and composite-processing equipment, such as autoclaves, vacuum ovens, furnaces, analytical instruments, mechanical testing equipment, and machining equipment.

• Conduct lab-scale resin mixing and coating trials while maintaining complete and accurate records.

• Perform physical, mechanical, and analytical testing according to established specifications, standards, and procedures.

• Maintain clear, concise, and accurate testing documentation and ensure testing equipment meets applicable business and quality requirements.

• Work with supervisors to maintain an organized work schedule and communicate resource needs to affected departments.

• Provide feedback on laboratory processes, work instructions, and documentation.

• Collaborate effectively with other laboratory employees and support business needs as assigned by supervision.

• Follow all laboratory rules, company policies, quality-system requirements, and health and safety procedures.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory work area on a daily basis.

• Support ongoing quality control and product-integrity requirements.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

• At least 2 years of related experience in an industrial laboratory, manufacturing environment, production shop, or similar setting.

• Experience with industrial laboratory work or production-shop operations.

• Familiarity with analytical testing methods or instruments, such as DSC, DMA, rheology, FTIR, HPLC, particle-size analysis, or similar equipment.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.

• Ability to prepare routine reports, maintain records, and communicate clearly in writing.

• Strong attention to detail, precision, organization, and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Ability to work proactively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.

• One to three years of experience in composite materials processing or testing.

• Experience with resin mixing, coatings, research-lab work, polymers, adhesives, or composite materials.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work primarily in a standing position.

• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to wear a NIOSH-approved respirator, as required.

• Ability to work in a laboratory and office setting with occasional exposure to the factory floor.
